- Christian Endeavor | dyer-cp-church1
Christian Endeavor The idea for the Christian Endeavor started in a discussion among members of the Upper Room Sunday School class of the Dyer Cuumberland Presbyterian Church in early 1992. The class was discussing ways of showing Christian love in the community, and serving those who are in greatest need seemed to be a good way of showing this love. Originally, through a generous rental agreement from a local businessman, a suitable building was secured. For a period of time, class members operated with class funds and donations from a few people who believed in the mission of the Christian Endeavor. In an effort to extend this service, other community churches were invited to participate. Through this effort, donations of money, used clothing, toys, and furniture increased. Additional volunteers began working as well. A board of directors, with representatives from each participating church, help to govern the operations of the Christian Endeavor. They do not charge for items in the store, nor do they have cash avaiable. They do provide food and other items for individuals and familaies who have a great need. Donations of funiture, gently used clothing, and money are always needed. Volunteers are welcomed and needed as well. The LORD has blessed this ENDEAVOR. CLOSED CLOSED CLOSED CLOSED
- 55 & ALIVE OUTINGS | dyer-cp-church1
This month’s 55 Alive Destination is Blue Bank Fish House and Grill that has local cuisine that people drive from a hundred miles away to experience. Steaks, fish, chicken and all the trimmings, such as homemade hushpuppies and onion rings make the visit to Reelfoot Lake even more memorable. The restaurant focuses on fresh local foods, some they even grow themselves in their own garden. They proudly support many local farmers. Their outdoor dining is a perfect spot with a spectacular lakeside view. Those attending were as follows: Jerry Phillips, Marshall & Sandy Moss, Jeannie & Johnny Ward, Judi & Jim Beck, Bro. Joey Edwards, Sherri Monsue and Donna Phillips. Be watching for next month's destination! Due to lack of space, former photos are in an album on the church's Facebook page. The link is below. What is Compassion Child? Click to find out. What does Compassion Child Do? Click to find out. Coming soon - information on the church's sponsored child. What Is Sponsorship? When you sponsor a child, you care for and encourage them through prayer, letter writing and financial support. That support empowers a local church to individually and holistically meet their needs in a loving, safe community where they can learn, grow, play and dream. When you become a sponsor, you are personally connected with a child who will know your name and treasure the thought that you care about them. Your support gives a child life-changing opportunity to develop spiritually, emotionally, physically and economically. It's a relationship more powerful than poverty — changing their life and yours! http://compassion.com/SponsoranOlderChild
