NOTE FROM OUR PASTOR
This past week we all have had a lot of down time. Hopefully you used some of it to catch up on your
reading through the Bible this year. God's Word is unlike any other book. A.W. Tozer wrote, "The purpose
of the Bible is to bring men to Christ, to make them holy and prepare them for Heaven. In this, it is unique
among books and it always fulfills its purpose."
The Bible is a priceless gift, a tool for Christians to use as we share the Good News of our Savior, Christ Jesus. God's Holy Word is indeed a priceless, one-of-a-kind treasure. Handle it with care, but more importantly, handle it daily.
Blessings;
- Bro. Joey

Do you know how to tell if someone needs encouragement?
If they are breathing.
"Therefore encourage one another and strengthen one another, just as you are now doing."

What is Lent? A season of reflection, penance, and renewal -a sacred time in the church to prepare our hearts for Easter. It is a season of prayer, fasting, almsgiving, and spiritual renewal, helping us reflect on Christ's sacrifice and grow closer to God.
The word "Lent" comes from the 'old English lencten' or springtime spring and from West Germanic langitinaz or long days or lengthening of the day.
The 40 days of Lent - the period leading up to Easter that starts on Ash Wednesday and ends on Holy Saturday, the day before Easter.
Commonly observed by Roman Catholic, Eastern and some Protestant churches these 40 days as a time of personal reflection to prepare your heart and mind for Good Friday and Easter.
What is Ash Wednesday? February 18
Lent starts with Ash Wednesday, the day when you might see people with a cross of ashes on their foreheads. These ashes are a reminder of our need for repentance and the reality of our human frailty. The ash marks symbolize sorrow and mourning over sin. The Biblical support for this observation comes from the following verses:
Then I turned my face to the Lord God, seeking him by prayer and pleas for mercy with fasting and sackcloth and ashes (Daniel 9:3).
There was great mourning among the Jews, with fasting and weeping and lamenting, and many of them lay in sackcloth and ashes (Esther 4:3).

What is Palm Sunday? March 29 Last Sunday of Lent and begins Holy Week which is the week leading up to Easter and the final days of Jesus's life. It also marks Jesus' arrival to Jerusalem, when people welcomed him by waving Palm branches recognizing Him as their King.

What is Maundy Thursday? April 2 This day remembers the Last Supper, when Jesus shared a final meal with His disciples and demonstrated His humility by washing their feet.

What is Good Friday? April 3 The day is a solemn day that commemorates Jesus’ crucifixion and His ultimate sacrifice for our sins. Despite its sorrowful events, it’s called “Good” because of the redemption Jesus secured for us.

What is Holy Saturday? April 4 This is a day of quiet reflection, as we remember Jesus’ time in the tomb and anticipate the joy of what’s to come. Finally, Easter Sunday bursts forth with celebration: Jesus is alive! His resurrection offers us hope, new life, and the promise of eternity with Him.

What is Holy Week? Holy Week is a solemn time, with Palm Sunday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and the Easter Vigil playing significant roles in preparing for Easter. Good Friday services involve veneration of the cross, scripture readings, and prayers, culminating in the Easter Vigil on Saturday night, a highly symbolic and sacred celebration of Christ’s Resurrection, often including baptisms and scripture reflections. Easter Sunday then marks the joyous conclusion of Lent, celebrating Christ’s victory over death with a high emphasis on the Eucharist and resurrection hope.

What is Easter? April 5 Easter rejoices in the resurrection of Jesus Christ, signifying victory over sin and death. It is a day of great joy, marked by sunrise services, festive gatherings, and proclamations of “He is risen!”
